About C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis was one of the outstanding Christian authors of the twentieth century. He wrote the children’s series The Chronicles of Narnia, as well as numerous non-fiction books based on his own life experiences. Lewis was well acquainted with grief and suffering—he lost his mother as a young boy. He was single most of his life but met his wife, Joy, in his later years. They were married only three years when she died of cancer. Their story is documented in the movie, “Shadowlands”.

Don’t Look Back

Life has its disappointments. We can be devastated by them. People let us down or treat us unfairly—sometimes when we least expect it. Sadly, it can be the people we’re closest to that bring the greatest sorrow. One thing is certain, there is only one person that will never let us down—God. The Bible says His ways are perfect, and also that they are beyond our understanding. Everything that happens in our life has passed through The hands of God for His good purpose. The thing is, we have to turn loose of our hurt and disappointment in order to see what God wants to do in our lives. As long as we are focused on our pain, we cannot look for the good. Isaiah 43:18-19 says this:

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

A Reason to Celebrate

Tomorrow is Easter. To some people it’s all about eggs and bunnies, and the celebration of spring. In some respects, it is about spring—the hope of a new beginning, the winter landscape awakening to new life. But it is so much more. It reminds us that there is a God who loves us with a love we cannot fathom. In spite of our faults, our failures, our hostility towards Him, God was willing to make his one and only son—whom He loved—a sacrifice for those sins. But Jesus didnt just die—He rose from the grave to become a living Savior—He offers us an abundant life on earth and the promise of an even better life in eternity. By believing this, we are given a new life—just like the seed that has been dormant all winter long, now comes forth from the ground as a beautiful flower. This is the Good News of God—the best reason to celebrate!
